ABOUT

Kewaunee County Special Olympics

Mission Statement

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities*, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Purpose

To encourage Children and adults with intellectual disabilities to participate in Special Olympics, they develop improved physical fitness and motor skills, greater self-confidence and a more positive self-image. They grow mentally, socially and spiritually and, through their activities, exhibit boundless courage and enthusiasm, enjoy the rewards of friendship and ultimately discover not only new abilities and talents but "their voices" as well.

VOLUNTEERS

Join the more than 700,000 Special Olympics volunteers around the world by contacting your local Program. Special Olympics would not exist today — and could not have been created — without the time, energy, commitment and enthusiasm of its volunteers. As a grass-roots organization, Special Olympics relies on volunteers at all levels of the movement to ensure that every athlete is offered a quality sports training and competition experience.
